Pengsou Logistics, known for its Latin American footprint in energy and industrial freight, emphasized that timing and precision were critical. In a brief statement, the company noted that “navigating complex routes and complying with local transport regulations remain among the most significant challenges in these types of operations.”

The shipment, completed in late July, involved the transportation of a heavy industrial furnace and its auxiliary components to Villa de Reyes, San Luis Potosí—an industrial hotspot over 500 kilometers inland from Mexico’s eastern ports. Though the specific port of entry wasn’t disclosed, experts point to either Altamira or Veracruz, both key gateways for breakbulk shipments arriving from Europe.

Moving a unit of this scale wasn’t just a matter of putting it on a ship. The operation required a coordinated multimodal strategy—ocean freight from Spain, followed by a carefully routed heavy-haul convoy across Mexican highways. The overland phase involved route studies, close work with municipal authorities, and permits for road usage. Infrastructure constraints in rural and urban segments meant meticulous planning to avoid damage or delays.

European manufacturers are increasingly exporting high-value, oversized machinery to Mexico’s manufacturing centers, thanks to infrastructure expansions and growing energy sector investments.
